A busy shipping operation in Dubai requires a detail-oriented Shipping Supervisor to coordinate vessel-related documentation, cargo movement, shipment planning, and communication between operational teams.

The position focuses on keeping shipping activities organized, tracking cargo progress, and addressing operational requirements before and during dispatch.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate daily shipping activities according to vessel, cargo, and delivery schedules.
Review shipment instructions and ensure operational teams receive accurate information.
Coordinate cargo readiness with warehouses, transport teams, suppliers, and customers.
Monitor container movements, cargo collection, and delivery arrangements.
Liaise with shipping lines, freight agents, port representatives, and logistics partners.
Follow up on vessel schedules, sailing updates, arrival information, and cargo release status.
Check shipping instructions and supporting documents before processing.
Coordinate preparation of bills of lading, delivery orders, manifests, and related paperwork.
Monitor documentation deadlines and ensure required information is submitted on time.
Investigate shipment discrepancies, missing documents, and cargo-related delays.
Maintain shipment tracking records and provide status updates to relevant parties.
Assist with planning manpower and operational resources according to workload.
Review completed shipments and ensure outstanding matters are followed up.
Prepare operational summaries and shipping performance reports for management.
Maintain professional communication with clients, agents, carriers, and service providers.
Ensure shipping activities are conducted according to company procedures and applicable requirements.

Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Shipping, Logistics, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, or Business Administration.
Previous experience in shipping operations, freight forwarding, cargo handling, or maritime logistics.
Experience coordinating multiple shipments or operational activities is preferred.
Understanding of shipping documents and cargo movement procedures.
Familiarity with container shipping, vessel schedules, and freight operations is an advantage.
Strong follow-up and coordination abilities.
Good written and verbal English communication.
Comfortable working with shipment tracking systems, spreadsheets, and email correspondence.
Excellent attention to documentation accuracy and deadlines.
Ability to prioritize urgent shipping requirements.
Calm and practical approach when handling delays or operational problems.
UAE/GCC shipping or port-related experience is an advantage.
