Job Description
We are currently seeking a dynamic and highly experienced Director of Projects – MEP to join our Corporate Engineering team. This role will support the Corporate Vice President – Engineering in driving the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of Rotana’s Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) standards across both existing hotels and new developments.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring that engineering systems, technical specifications, and operational requirements are effectively integrated into hotel project designs and delivered in line with Rotana brand standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Reviewing and evaluating MEP design drawings, layouts, and technical specifications across all project phases to ensure compliance with Rotana standards and operational requirements
Providing technical guidance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire life safety, communication systems, elevators, and related building services
Supporting the development, enhancement, and implementation of Rotana engineering standards and technical specifications across the portfolio
Working closely with project teams, consultants, contractors, and owners to monitor project progress and resolve engineering-related issues in a timely manner
Participating in project coordination meetings, site inspections, commissioning activities, and handover processes for new and existing developments
Advising on equipment selection, technical solutions, quality control measures, and lifecycle cost optimisation
Supporting hotel openings by managing engineering punch lists and ensuring all MEP systems meet Rotana operational standards prior to handover
Assisting Engineering Leaders in identifying technical training needs and supporting capability development initiatives across the portfolio
Coordinating with General Managers and property Engineering teams to strengthen preventive maintenance programmes and improve asset reliability
Ensuring all engineering systems and project activities comply with applicable health, safety, environmental, and fire-life safety regulations
Skills
Education, Qualifications & Experiences
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
A minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in engineering and project management, ideally within hospitality, mixed-use, or large-scale commercial developments
Strong hands-on experience in MEP design review, project execution, commissioning, and hotel openings
Prior experience working with MEP consultants on hospitality projects is a MUST
Solid understanding of hotel engineering operations, maintenance practices, and building services systems
Good knowledge of international engineering standards, building codes, and fire-life safety regulations
Strong analytical, problem-solving, project coordination, and stakeholder management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Ability to travel across the region as required
Professional engineering certification or project management certification would be an advantage
