Description
A leading organization in Dubai is hiring a qualified and responsible Safety Officer to monitor workplace safety, identify hazards, conduct inspections, maintain HSE documentation, and promote safe working practices across project sites.
Typical UAE construction Safety Officer duties include site inspections, risk assessments, toolbox talks, PPE monitoring, incident reporting, and HSE compliance.
Responsibilities
Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
Monitor compliance with company HSE policies and applicable safety requirements.
Ensure workers and subcontractors use the required PPE.
Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and safety awareness sessions.
Assist with risk assessments, method statements, and Permit-to-Work procedures.
Monitor high-risk activities and ensure appropriate safety controls are in place.
Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
Prepare and maintain safety inspection and incident reports.
Maintain HSE records, permits, training records, and other documentation.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors on safety matters.
Monitor housekeeping and safe storage of materials and equipment.
Assist with emergency drills and emergency response procedures.
Recommend corrective and preventive actions for identified hazards.
Support safety audits and inspections by clients or authorities.
Stop or escalate unsafe work where there is an immediate safety risk.
Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
Previous experience as a Safety Officer, preferably in construction or industrial projects.
NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent HSE certification is an advantage; some UAE construction vacancies require NEBOSH IGC.
Good knowledge of workplace safety procedures and risk assessment.
Strong observation, communication, and reporting skills.
Ability to work effectively with workers, supervisors, contractors, and management.
Good knowledge of PPE, emergency procedures, and safe work practices.
UAE experience is an advantage.
Ability to work on-site and under demanding conditions.
